Education Week 2022

Creating Futures - education changes lives

Education Week 2022 will be held this week from 1-5 August. This year’s theme is Creating Futures – education changes lives and celebrates the quality education we provide and the opportunities available to all students at our school. We have a number of activities and events scheduled throughout the week that highlight how we are creating futures for our students.

Monday 1 August - Year 7-10 Student-led Parent/Teacher Conferences

These conferences provide students with the opportunity to celebrate their achievements, reflect on further growth and take ownership of their learning. The conference aims to help parents/caregivers and the student's learning coach understand how they can better support the student's learning needs. Information on how to book these conferences has been sent to all parents and caregivers by email.

Tuesday 2 August - Leadership Investiture Assembly

Student leadership is highly valued at AGHS, and as a result, our Captains, Prefects, Student Council Representatives and House Captains play a significant role within the school community. To celebrate their election to these leadership positions and to signify their commencement in these roles, our 2022/2023 student leaders will be presented to the school at the Investiture Assembly. Parents and caregivers of the newly elected leadership team have been sent an invitation to attend this important occasion by email.

Wednesday August 3 - Cyber Safety Parent Workshop

With technology playing such a big part of our everyday lives, it is important that parents and caregivers are aware of the challenges presented by technology use, and have the skills and knowledge to ensure children in their care remain safe and responsible digital citizens. This Cyber Safety Workshop will be presented by Senior Constable Lynda Hart, the Ku-ring-gai Police School Liaison officer, and will take place in the Library from 6-7pm.

Thursday August 4 & Friday 5 August - Education Week Tours

We would like to give parents and caregivers the opportunity to celebrate the learning that takes place in our classrooms by joining one of our Education Week tours. These tours will visit a variety of classes from different cohorts so that parents and caregivers can experience the learning that our students are taking part in every day. Tours will commence at 8.45am and take approximately 90 minutes, followed by morning tea. If you are interested in coming on a tour of the school, please register using the link below by Wednesday 3 August at 3pm.
