Senior/Intermediate Dance Companies and Ensembles

These companies and ensembles have a vertical structure and are open to students from Years 9-12. The elective companies give students the opportunity to develop their performance quality as well as composition skills to choreograph with their teacher to create contemporary dance works. The students audition to be in the company at the end of the year prior for rehearsals to commence in early Term 1.

Students gain performance opportunities at: In the Spotlight Dance Festival, State Dance Festival, AGHS’s annual Dance Night, the AGHS Musical (every second year) and AGHS’s Presentation Day.

Dance Night

Each year, Asquith Girls High School puts on a night of dance performances showcasing the talents of our HSC dance students, elective dance students and dance companies and ensembles.

Dance Night gives valuable performance opportunities to students who elect dance as a subject, and those who have successfully auditioned to be involved in an ensemble or company. Further, it is an evening for Year 12 students to display their major dance projects and perform shortly before their HSC practical examinations.

Dance Night is a growing showcase and displays the talents and success of dance at Asquith. We are very fortunate to offer a professional theatre space for our dancers to shine on stage at the Chatswood Concourse Theatre!

Schools Spectacular Dance Ensemble

On non-musical years, AGHS is allocated a certain number of dancers to represent the school for Schools Spectacular. This dance ensemble is formed through expression of interest to Stage 5 (Year 9/10) Dance students.

Interested students will audition for a place in the Schools Spectacular Dance Ensemble for AGHS, with the performances occurring at Qudos Bank Arena in November.
