Formal Notification related to the change in drawing areas for local high and primary schools

In November it was announced that Asquith Boys High School and Asquith Girls High School will transition to two standalone co-educational high schools for Years 7-12. This has prompted some changes to the intake areas for the Hornsby-Berowra area. The updates provide guaranteed access to a coeducational high school. They also provide improved alignment between primary schools and high schools, enabling more students to move from primary school to high school with their peers.

For your information and that of your parents and carers, intake area adjustments for students have been made to the following schools across the Hornsby-Berowra area. This will affect where parents and carers can enrol their children in 2026.

· Asquith Boys High School (co-educational from 2026)

· Asquith Girls High School (co-educational from 2026)

· Brisbane Water Secondary College Umina Campus

· Brisbane Water Secondary College Senior Campus

· Kariong Mountains High School

· Ku-ring-gai High School

· St Ives High School

· Turramurra High School

Some additional minor changes to other school intake areas are being implemented to correct instances where a non-residential area or a small group of homes is not aligned with the majority of its street or neighbourhood to a particular school.

Minor changes to intake areas are in place for the following schools:

· Asquith Public School

· Berowra Public School

· Brooklyn Public School

· Hornsby South Public School

· Mount Colah Public School

· Mount Ku-ring-gai Public School

· Normanhurst Public School

· Pymble Public School

· St Ives North Public School

· St Ives Park Public School

· Waitara Public School

The department will be closely monitoring emerging enrolment trends resulting from the new offerings and new intake areas. Further changes to intake areas may be made in future years to ensure they are working best for the community.

What this means

· For Day 1 Term 1 2026, new intake areas will be in effect for some primary and high school enrolments.

· No current primary or high school students, or those enrolled to begin in 2025, will be required to change schools.

· Parents can still apply as a non-local enrolment to an out of intake area school and their application will be considered on a case-by-case basis in line with the department's enrolment policy.

Siblings

From 2026, schools will prioritise siblings of students currently enrolled, as consistent with the department's enrolment policy.

Preview your new intake areas

To find out which school a child may be eligible for in 2026, you can check by using the search function on the map tool with their address.

The new school intake areas will be available to be viewed using the School Finder tool in January 2025.
