Overall procedures and consequences for helping to ‘sort it out' or ‘fix it'.
- A complaint of bullying or mean behaviour is made to a trusted staff member, who counsels the target.
- Staff member initially speaks to the student and makes a judgement whether they should refer the matter on to the Year adviser, Head Teacher Wellbeing and Learning or the Deputy Principal, or continue to manage the situation.
- The target is counselled and consulted leading to making a decision whether this has helped ‘sort it out' or ‘fix it' or whether to proceed to Step 4.
- A written statement concerning the alleged offence and naming the offenders is made by the target.
- Head Teacher or Deputy Principal convenes a meeting with the person /people named in the targets statement to discuss the complaint. Based on the findings move to step 6 or 7.
- Conflict resolution session between the target and the alleged bully. The aim of this session is to reach a resolution where all people involved are satisfied.
- For serious or unresolved cases of bullying, the consequences will follow the Asquith Girls High School Discipline Policy. This may include detention, withdrawal from the playground and/or placement on a discipline level involving behaviour monitoring.
